Information on Rabies
Rabies is a disease that affects the nervous system (including the brain) of humans and other mammals. The most common way in which it is transmitted is through a bite from an animal with rabies. Non-bite exposure and human-to-human exposure are both rare. Some of the species that can spread the rabies virus to other animals include:
Seek medical attention immediately if you think you may have been exposed to rabies. If treatment is started before symptoms develop, the prognosis is excellent.
